My word of the day for December 23d 2009 is... Change
I had the chance to discover early in my life that change is the only constant of life. As you are reading these lines, small changes happen all around you and to you.
Yet, the natural tendency of the people is to dread change. People seek stability and control, and for a while everything seems to go well - until something unexpected happens and the barriers they built don't work anymore.
One of the best examples for this is the software development industry. It has built mechanisms for protecting projects against change, and they have all failed. The Agile manifesto appeared as a reaction to the command and control style of management, and accepted one simple fact: change is natural so the only thing you can do is to embrace change.
Have an eventful day - you can learn something from each small thing that happens to you.
